IVY Beauty Corporation was established in November 1999 with a mission to provide quality, value-added, value for money personal care products to enrich the life of consumers in their beauty and grooming needs. Its vision was to be a global marketer of quality and state-of-the-art personal care products for the Malaysian and International Markets. True to its vision, today IVY beauty top brands has stamped its presence in 34 countries across 5 continents and is still growing and spreading its wings.

 

One of the sub-brands, LEIVY, naturally approached us to help them create some content for their awareness advertisement campaign. Their initial planning is to have four 20-seconds short clips with different concepts. The campaign name is 'It's proudly Malaysian,' clearly shows that this best-selling brand in Japan is a Malaysian brand. It's like a #support local brand campaign.

 

We first scheduled online meetings with the clients to kick start this project due to the pandemic, mainly to talk about the details of their campaign. This process took about a month, and we came up with some approaches and solutions for them.

 

After getting approval from the client, we took some time to research Japanese influencers. We contacted a few Japanese talents currently residing in Malaysia, and we found one who fits this actress role. We looked through her details and found out that she is running a fairly successful YouTube channel. So we decided to collaborate with her. You might ask, why must it be a Japanese talent out of every else? It's because we would like to capture the Japanese's authentic English language accent.

 

Then we took our second step, which was location scouting. We did some online research about the interior design of Japanese-style houses and took a few as our references. As we were running through all the choices available, we found one in the Kuala Lumpur area. That location comes with a tatami-style living room and a shoji screen. We also brought some Japanese-style paper fans and some Japanese decorations to enhance the set. And most importantly, we also tried our best to look for a wooden bathtub for the bathing scene.

At last, we are glad that the shoot went smooth and we can achieve the main objectives and created these four short clips below for our client.

  • Video 1: "Brightens skin."

    • This video focuses on how the product can help to brighten up and rejuvenates the skin tone.

  • Video 2: "Soft & Smooth"

    • This video focuses on the soft and smooth skin of the Japanese woman. To show how the skin will be after using the body shampoo

  • Video 3: “Double Moisturizing Care”

    • This video shows the 'doubling' effect of everything, including the decorations and the twin sisters having fun during their bath. We chose to split the screen to show the events that happened between the sisters. 

  • Video 4: “Bathing in Goat’s Milk”

    • This video focuses on showcasing the Goat's Milk double moisturizing body shampoo. We used the visual footage of splashes of milk and snowy white goats for the opening.
